1/28/2013–Aldergrove, British Columbia, Canada The set of “Bates Motel”, an upcoming television series on A&E. The series is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, and will depict the life of Norman Bates (played by Freddie Highmore) and his mother Norma (played by Vera Farmiga) prior to the events portrayed in Hitchcock’s film. A&E chose to skip a pilot of the series, and ordered a 10-episode first season. The series was filmed in Aldergrove, British Columbia, close to the US border and near Vancouver.
